Sand Flat
An older, quieter route into the Horse Camp forest.
A less-used trailhead off Everitt Memorial Highway provides an alternate approach toward Horse Camp and the south-side routes. The open flat itself is a sensitive place, not a drive-in parking field.

Planning, access and history
Seasonal approach
MSAC notes that snow covers the access for much of the year. Upper and lower Sand Flat roads lead from the highway.
Camping practices
MSAC asks visitors to use existing dispersed sites, create no new camps and avoid driving into the flat. Check current fire restrictions.
