THE MOUNTAIN, DOCUMENTED

Panther Meadows

A tiny spring-fed world with an outsized cultural and ecological importance.

Spring-fed subalpine meadows and cascades sit just below the upper highway. The Forest Service identifies this as a sacred area for local Native American groups and a place where trampling and water disturbance have caused lasting damage.
