Planning, access and history
Hiking destination
The Forest Service describes a trail following the canyon rim for about 2.5 miles to the Clear Creek Springs area, with views toward the Konwakiton Glacier and Mud Creek.
Water and camps
MSAC asks campers to remain at least 200 feet from Clear Creek Springs and avoid trampling the spring edges. A mapped water source is not a guarantee of present flow or potability.
Terrain and hazards
“Easiest” still demands mountain judgment
MSAC warns of rescues caused by underestimating this route, with rockfall, snow and glaciers off route. Snow conditions may require ice axe and crampons; a trailhead-open label does not establish summit conditions.
